Anthony Brizgys, DVM
Dr. Anthony Brizgys is the medical director at McKillip Animal Hospital. A native of Chicago, Dr. Brizgys enjoys meeting new clients and getting to know their pets. He also enjoys the relationships and bonds he has formed with the clients and pets that have come into the hospital since he began practicing veterinary medicine here in 1974.
Dr. Brizgys completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1970. Dr. Brizgys continued his education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana College of Veterinary Medicine where he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1974.
Among his many professional interests, Dr. Brizgys is particularly drawn to animal dermatology. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Brizgys enjoys dining out, going to classic car shows, traveling abroad and spending time with friends. He is the proud father of four adult children named Rana, Paul, Douglas and Alexa. They enjoy going out, seeing movies and going on bike rides together.
Allen Glater, DVM
Associate Veterinarian Dr. Allen Glater has cared for pets at McKillip Animal Hospital since 1982. His mother was a nurse, and Dr. Glater's desire to become a veterinarian grew out of his interest in medicine and animals. He most enjoys helping foster the bond between people and their pets by practicing high-quality veterinary medicine.
A native of New London, CT, Dr. Glater attended Trinity College in Hartford and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1975. He went on to attend the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and received his Master of Science degree in Microbiology in 1977. Dr. Glater continued his education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1979 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1981.
Dr. Glater is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, and the Pride Veterinary Medical Community (Pride VMC) [formerly Lesbian & Gay Veterinary Medical Association].
At home, Dr. Glater has a number of dogs, cats and tropical fish. His hobbies include gardening, traveling, photography and watching sports.
