Radiology
Radiographs (x-rays) are extremely useful for diagnosing medical problems and conditions in your pet. X-rays are used to diagnose a number of conditions including:
- The location and severity of fractures
- Symptoms of heart disease
- Foreign bodies inside your pet's stomach
- Bladder stones
To better diagnose your pet's problems, McKillip Animal Hospital has invested in the latest state-of-the-art x-ray technology. We also offers radiology consultations with a board-certified veterinary radiology specialist.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an advanced imaging technique that uses soundwaves to provide a real-time moving image of your pet's internal organs. This procedure is particularly useful for diagnosing abdominal and cardiac problems and can also be used to detect abdominal fluid, tumors, foreign bodies and other illnesses.
An ultrasound machine is on-site to guide many diagnostic procedures, including cystocentesis (a procedure that collects a urine sample), liver biopsies and pericardiocentesis (a procedure in which fluid is aspirated from the pericardium—the sac that envelops the heart). Ultrasound is also helpful to diagnose pregnancy and visualize fetal heart rates.
On-Site Laboratory
Your pet cannot tell us what is wrong and sometimes a physical examination does not provide a full diagnostic picture. In these cases, blood tests and other laboratory tests are used to diagnose your pet condition and develop a treatment plan.
McKillip Animal Hospital's advanced on-site laboratory is equipped with the latest Vetscan laboratory testing equipment. We are capable of processing many different laboratory values within minutes; the result is fast, accurate treatment for your pet. For more complex cases, we utilize the services of an outside reference laboratory.
